Literature Text

We live
In this hell of sacrifices
Like mules bearing burdens
Far too heavy.

Our knees bent
After toil and toil
Our bones to our skin
As we starve.

It's who we are
We wait for our day
A wait for eternity
Fruitless effort.

Rags dampened
With sweat and tears
After days under the sun
And nights beside the ice.

We can't turn back
We've waded too deep
Into this river
Of toil and sacrifice.
